With placement on the shelves of Home Depot, Kidde is the most prominent competitor to First Alert, but its overall track record is, in a word, disturbing. I started putting disregards on the fire alarm system and I am coming home from vacation to look at it today. We kept having these alarms for a week, even when we disconnected the smoke alarm from the system on Tuesday, When we disconnected it from the system, These "fire alarms" started sounding sirens on the base station and on the 2 external sirens at all hours of the night. We were asleep so we couldn't pick up the call to shut it off and the entire fire department showed up to a false alarm, They were cool about it though and we didn't get a fine or anything. That evening at around 11 pm, The smoke alarm went off again, same exact thing happened. My neighbor called me 10 minutes later to say there was no alarm, no siren, nothing. So I called the county sheriff to send someone out to check on him. I told Simplisafe to turn it off because I didn't want the entire fire department coming out to a false alarm and so I could call him and see what I should I do, I couldn't get ahold of him. This scared me since I was out of state and he and his pets were in the house and I couldn't check in on him. On Monday around 4AM, I got a alert from SimpliSafe that my neighbors cabin fire alarm was going off.
